My “relationship” with my mother is complicated.

I saved her life from a drug overdose when I was 12 years old.

She was a narcissistic addict who did some terrible things to me when I was growing up, then pretended I didn’t exist for roughly 30+ years. (This is why I don’t have a photo of us together.)

It’s “Persimageddon” again! My too-big persimmon tree is heavy with fruit. It’s an apocalypse of abundance.

I invited my whole neighborhood to come over to my house and harvest my tree. My only rule is “take all you want.” And then maybe a little more to share.

Dozens of families came and picked for 3 days this weekend… and I still have fruit left!!!

This is the BEST way to meet my neighbors, have fun, and make sure lots of good food doesn’t go to waste. Continue reading »
