I got married!
I got married over the weekend!
And because I’ve already received a few hundred requests for details (especially from people who would rightfully expect to be invited to my wedding), I’d love to share the story with all of you at once.
My husband and I have been together for almost 2 years, and this month was the longest time we’ve been apart. We spoke on line for hours every day while I was away.
I’ve known for a long time that this was the man I want to stay with and grow with.
Devin proposed to me over SKYPE while I was in Bali, and he was traveling around South Africa. It was an incredibly beautiful and romantic moment. I responded with an immediate, full body “Yes!”
I arrived home from Bali on Thursday. I picked him up from the airport on Friday. We eloped that afternoon.
I felt so clear that this was the right thing, and I couldn’t come up with a good reason to wait.
When I was younger (teens and twenties) I dreamed of a big wedding with the fairy tale dress. Today that feels like unnecessary work and stress, and not really relevant to the prize itself: marriage between two people.
(But I love to attend other people’s weddings!)
Instead we had a very personal, private ceremony. No guests. Just us.
We went shopping for wedding bands the next day. And we’re going on our honeymoon next week.
I’m planning on going on many honeymoons with my husband for a very long time.
My friend Carol suggested a post-marriage bridal shower. My friend Cara suggested a post-marriage bachelorette party.
Why not? We get to make our own rules, right?

PS: For anyone out there who has ever despaired
of finding their love partner, I did, too! I had an
ENORMOUS Love Monster. (Much bigger than my
money monster.) I did my own Financial Alchemy
process on Love.
I met my husband a couple of months later.
We met on line when I was already 45 years old.
Advice from my dating coach friends totally changed
my dating experience and helped me attract my guy.

wow Morgana, I was thinking ur money process mightn’t work for me bcos I haven’t wanted a r’ship for 5 yrs. but now hearing u speak how u wr keeping money and love away im thinking maybe its exactly for me 🙂 PS my monster wd be an apathetic figure that doesn’t think im good enough – father. wd an apathetic monster work????
Hi Allie. What you’re describing is very, very common. (And by the way, I didn’t have a relationship for almost 8 years before I met my husband!) EVERY human being has the fear that this will work for everybody else but them. That’s just part of your money monster.
PS–an apathetic money monster isn’t your real money monster. Your real money monster will be much more active and terrifying.
